For decades, topping your PBA region in season points earned an automatic card onto the PBA National Tour. In August 2026 the PBA quietly ended that path — and here’s what the ELITE restructure actually changed.
For most of the PBA’s history, the regional program was the part of pro bowling a working bowler could actually reach — thousands of tournaments across seven regions, each with its own season and points ranking. Through the 2008-09 season, finishing on top of your region earned an exemption straight onto the PBA National Tour. No committee, no audition, no sponsor. Jeff Carter led the Midwest Region in 2005-06 and that finish alone handed him his first national-tour card.
