Randy Pedersen: Remembering the Voice of Bowling

Randy Pedersen gave bowling a voice for 25 years. Remembering the 13-time PBA champion, beloved broadcaster, and life behind the microphone.

Long before generations of fans knew his commentary, Randy Pedersen was winning on the PBA Tour. His first title came in 1986, followed by the 1987 PBA National Championship. He won 13 Tour titles in all, and his ability to deliver in championship matches later gave his analysis an authority that bowlers recognized.

In the booth, that experience became something he shared. Alongside partners including Rob Stone and Lon McEachern, Pedersen helped viewers follow the adjustments, pressure, and decisions behind a shot. He was there for Kelly Kulick’s historic Tournament of Champions victory, Pete Weber’s fifth U.S. Open, and the major championships that defined Jason Belmonte’s career. His humor was part of why those broadcasts felt familiar.

Pedersen died on September 16, 2026, at 64. This tribute remembers both the competitor and the broadcaster: the man honored by the PBA and USBC Halls of Fame, and the voice so many fans associated with watching bowling. Thank you, Randy.
